Today, I want to share a personal story with you. It’s about a fear that accompanied me for many years: my fear of blood tests—and how hypnosis helped me conquer it.
My Fear of Blood Tests
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had an extreme fear of blood tests. The mere knowledge that I had to get one filled me with unease. Once I was at the clinic, I would feel constricted, and when the needle came close, I panicked. I had a strong urge to flee, my body shook, I tensed up, and staying calm felt impossible. Even lying down didn’t help—I constantly felt as if I might faint. Luckily, most nurses were very understanding and guided me through these uncomfortable situations. Afterward, I’d tell myself, "It wasn’t that bad," only for the same distress to arise when the next blood test loomed, despite my predominantly positive experiences.
It was an issue that annoyed me—partly because panic is inherently unpleasant, and who wants to feel that way? But also because the fear felt "stupid." I found it utterly irrational and unnecessary. Then came the moment I decided I wanted to get pregnant and realized I’d have to endure multiple blood tests during the pregnancy, all essential for my health and the baby’s. Avoiding them wasn’t an option, so I began searching for a solution.
Hypnosis: My Path Out of Fear
I chose to visit a hypnosis coach. The session turned out to be an incredible experience. During the trance, I was guided into a simulated scenario where blood was being drawn. My coach helped me acknowledge and process the emotions that surfaced. We delved deeper to uncover the origin of my fear.
It became clear that an event from my teenage years was the root cause. During a blood draw back then, I fainted. The panic displayed by the nurse and doctor made a profound impression on me—the feelings of helplessness and loss of control had remained deeply embedded in my subconscious.

While a mild uneasiness remains, it’s now just a small hurdle—not an insurmountable barrier. Plus, I’ve come to understand that most people feel at least somewhat uncomfortable during blood tests.
